In the Springs of 2007 and 2008, Teal Farm planted more than 200 varieties of fruit and nuts, including pears, plums, quince, seaberry, aronia, blueberries, cherries, walnuts, hazelnuts, hickory, and pine nuts. We've selected cold hardy varieties adapted to our landscape and built a series of wind breaks and micro-climates to lengthen the growing season and protect against damaging winds, which are prevalent at our site.

We are already seeing harvests of some berries and plums, and in the coming years we will be stewarding the young orchard so that it develops as robustly as possible.

We will be studying the relationship between soil health and nutrient density, and how to best preserve the value of what is grown here—using renewable energy in all phases of processing.
